Poetry is not
the ability
to fill a line with as many
flowery descriptive creative imaginative metaphorical enchanting captivating
adjectives
as you can

Poetry is not
the ability
to draw
a comparison
or regurgitate
idioms.
A poorly written
comparison
is like
the straw
that broke
the camel’s
back.

Balladry is not
the aptitude
to immigrate
your venerated
morphemes
into a Thesaurus

Poetry
is
not
the
ability
to
break
a
normal
sentence
into
a
million
pieces
