#136

You can try to save
my daylight
but I will spend
frivolously still
Pinch the pennies
of my sunshine
and I will splurge instead
on starlight, moonbeams,
lightning
You can’t bottle up
the heat
to be popped
like champagne on
rainy days
Encapsulate
sunny vitamins
but you won’t reap
as many benefits
Stack your stocks
and bonds against my
profit and loss and
you will see
Daylight pays
my bills already
Complicated conversions –
Dollars into hours
of digital screens
and fluorescent bulbs
Such high taxation –
Squandering sunshine
to obligation
Daylight spending
would preserve more sanity
than the interest owed
on this “savings”
account anyways
