Standing
With grace
The “I danced in my twenties”
type of grace
Standing, sort of –
Folded half in half, reaching
Forward into curtains
Standing
As only ballerinas know it –
On one flamingo leg,
With a lolling arch to a steel-framed spine
Arm and leg extended each
Reaching for rafters and
Built to balance
Standing –
Like Atlas
Where a marble globe could rest
Along the flawless curve of an upturned form
And perhaps in fact –
It does
