Looks like straw, hair
Beaten and dry, like her

Falls limply over limp shoulders
Spineless and weak, like her

Crying for nourishment
Cracking and breaking, like her

Brushes back hair from skin
Darkened and damaged, like her

Uses lilac lines to cover her eyes
Shadowed away, like her

She writes beauty in script
Over photographs

Of sun sets and thunderstorms
But suns fall away in the evening, leaving

Her standing before shards of glass, broken
Still asking

Is this beauty?
