Silvery hair and granite eyes
– almost transparent
Standing before the ashen sky
Glassy seas roll behind
His silvery hair and granite eyes

Temporal as the dusky winds
– almost fluid
When dreary cloaks meet shoreline winds
Leaden shadows of fireless flint
Temporal as the dusky winds

Granite lips and a charcoal stare
– almost lifeless
In hazy salted sallow air
Slate-like silence as pallid prayer
From his granite lips and charcoal stare

A grizzled artist, an ocean sculpture
– almost fading
A one-pigment portrait of a hardened mourner
A smoky frame around tepid torture
This grizzled artist, this ocean sculpture
