With breath from the lips of a mermaid
And speed on the tail of a fish
You swim to the edge of Earth and back
To catch the moments you missed.
With light from a million fireflies
And a thousand jars left to fill
You run through the dew in midnight’s fields
Through moonbeams that buzz in the chill.
With lightning’s speed and thunder’s power
Your life morphed like sand into glass
And through its crystalline clear blue eye
A glimpse of what life has passed.
The skin that wraps around your body
Is the same except for its age
But the heart within and soul without
Each write on a separate page.
The stars keep the secrets you whisper
But I see them in your eyes
Hidden dreams to step foot on the moon—
One moment beyond your skies.
