A precarious stack
of popsicle sticks
bubblegum braces
and Lego bricks
Matchbook roofs
And green felt lawns
Bed-sheet midnights
And flashlight dawns
Toothpick children
With tic-tac toys
Paper-doll clothes
And gummy bear boys
Tootsie roll puppies
And cotton ball cats
Chess-piece townspeople
Wearing thimble top hats
Rubber band dads
Driving matchbox cars
On tinker-toy bridges
Wrapped in gray foil tar
Clothespin mothers
In gum-wrapper gowns
Wearing cracker-jack jewelry
In the hand-painted town
Described and designed
In Crayola pigments
It’s an imaginer’s world
And we’re all just figments
