This is like climbing a mountain
Each step with eyes open wide
Then releasing it all in a moment
And closing your eyes when you dive
This is like training a body
With a technical measured routine
Then getting to the starting line
And forgetting how to breath
This is trading the hands I hold
For the strength they have on their own
And the accuracy of the notes I’ve taught
For the soul in the music they know
12 small hands mean so little
In the sea of sounds they swim in
But six smiles mean the world
To the girl they’re hand-in-hand with.
