People disappoint and you
Dislodge them
from the framework
Or the lacework
Of a life that’s full of holes but never
Holy
And you wonder
Why you’re lonely

Fill space with empty arms
Of all the faces
that can’t hold you
And the obligation
Of oxygen
Finds a way to choke you
A thousand knights
in rusty armor
And yet you continue choosing
Like a line up
Pick your criminal
Because each one of them is breaking you

You are falling up the stairs
of a castle crumbling quickly
A victim at the hand
Of a captor grimly seeking

A refuge sought
A battle fought
A grip that you are losing
A proverbial fork
In a fiery tower
A fate left to your choosing
