Seas creep up the paper edges
Of the origami vessel that she sleeps in
Pouring over words that slip away
Puddles of inky black confusion
The edges curl as they are dampened
And dry crooked on reprieves
But the water levels rise
And oars of escape feel like toothpicks
Stabbing holes in sheets of ocean
And power of wind and wave make motion
But direction is confounded under foam
Of the sea that’s creeping inside
The paper walls of origami perfection
And watery creases don’t stay crisp
And paper windows don’t stay clear

And you can’t fold that fast.
